Dubai Torch Tower fire-DS cast iron pipe system fire protect
Dubai's Torch Tower fireAugust 4th 2017, A large blaze has ripped through one of the largest residential buildings in the world, the Torch Tower in Dubai. Flames shot up the side of the skyscraper, sending debris tumbling from the 337m (1,106 ft) structure. People were screaming as they woke to the late-night blaze before having to flee. Fortunately, Dubai Civil Defense has successfully evacuated the torch tower and control the fire, there were no casualties but the direct economic losses of tens of millions of dollars. Dubai Civil Defense said the building's flammable external wall insulation board to make the Torch tower fire spread rapidly, building materials safety is worth pondering.

Compared with PVC pipe, why choose DS cast iron pipe drainage system? – Fire protection Dinsen mainly engaged in EN877 DS brand epoxy resin cast iron drain pipes and accessories used in most of the building drainage, sewage and ventilation systems. Compared with plastic pipes bring noise and fire safety problems, cast iron pipes have obvious excellent features: high strength, resistance to abrasion, corrosion and impact, fireproof and non-toxic, meet the fire safety and environmental protection requirements, no noise, no deformation, long life, easy installation and maintenance advantages.
Here is a focus on the fire resistance of DS cast iron pipe. DS cast iron pipes and accessories consist of grey cast iron with lamellar graphite, the tests and technical specifications are defined to correspond to EN877. Annex F of EN877 says that Cast iron products in accordance with this European standard are non-flammable and non-combustible. When exposed to fire they will maintain their functional characteristics and integrity for several hours, i.e their walls will remain impervious to flames and gases and there will be no fracture, collapse or significant deformation. The integrity of connections through walls and ceilings is maintained.
DS cast iron is non-combustible, it does not feed the fire, nor gives off either gases or smokes liable to delay fire fighters or damage other equipment. In the event of fire it reflects two obvious advantages:
1 Fire resistance - to prevent the spread of fireDrainage systems passing through structures designed to withstand fire, should not provide open breaches. For a given time, specified in the applicable regulations, they should not allow the passage of fire, smokes, heat or combustion products from one compartment to the other. While for plastics, the fire-stopping rule consists in ‘plugging the hole’, plastic materials which are highly sensitive to heat will not withstand the fire, will not remain in place, even in the case of a contained fire.
2 To avoid toxic smoke damagePlastic pipe when burning will produce a large number of toxic fumes, easy to spread. While cast iron drainage pipe is not flammable, so that it will not produce toxic smoke. Also there will be little smoke if installed with couplings whose rubber gaskets are completely covered by stainless steel collars (e.g. DS Rapid coupling or CH/CV/CE coupling), the pipe system remains closed in case of fire. Any smoke generated by heat effects on the inner coating remains in the pipeline and is then evacuated through the ventilation openings over the roof.
